Physiotherapy for tinnitus
Poor posture at work, tension in the neck muscles or blockages in the cervical spine can impair blood flow and supply to the ear, thus leading to tinnitus. But nocturnal teeth grinding is also a possible trigger. Physiotherapy can help to influence these problems.
We assess the statics of the spine and measure the mobility of the upper cervical spine. We also check for shortened or hardened muscles and assess the mobility of the jaw. We then develop a treatment plan based on our findings.
We offer the following therapies at the cantonal hospital and through our cooperating physiotherapists:
- Manual therapy according to various concepts (Maitland, Mulligen, Spiral Dynamics) to mobilise the cervical spine or the temporomandibular joint.
- Posture training for the cervical spine with stretching and strengthening of weakened or tense muscles.
- Massage/trigger point treatments to release tension in the muscles.
- relaxation techniques such as autogenic training, progressive muscle relaxation according to Jacobsen or water shiatsu to reduce stress factors.
- craniosacral therapy for the treatment of tension problems in the area of the skull, the meninges and the spinal cord.
